Did you know that white carnations are the flower of remembrance selected to honor deceased mothers on Mother's Day with red or pink varieties being the chosen color for those mother's that are still here with us? Mother's Day is a special day of celebration which pays tribute to motherhood and all mothers throughout the world. The message of genuine appreciation is clearly evident in each individual celebration with Mother's Day always having some special gifts or activities that show admiration for dearest mom. Here are several sentimental and personal ways to commemorate a deceased mom's memory on Mother's Day.
Light a single candle and place it beside her photograph as homage to her special day. Perhaps even an accolade of several much-loved scented candles alongside flowers viewing her favorite family photos with gentle harmonically soothing background music playing as family members embrace the love that is uniquely a family.
1) Plan a trip to the departed mother's favorite place she frequented when alive and spend time with loved ones enjoying the surroundings, location or ambiance of the particular destination. If she had a passion for arts or history; perhaps a visit to a nearby museum, antique stores or art gallery may be an ideal way to spend Mother's day reminiscing about how fond she was of great antiquities and historical antiques. This could even become an annual event with visits to out-of town historical places of interest together relishing in the joy of her alongside you in spirit.
2) If your mother had a family favorite meal that was characteristically hers; why not pay homage with a feast of the tremendous dishes that she was most famous for? A fresh arrangement of her favorite flowers including white Mother's Day carnations would make a befitting centerpiece for your memorable Mother's Day luncheon or dinner tribute.
3) Give the gift of giving by donating to the deceased mother's favorite charity or foundation. Take part in a charitable cook-off for those less fortunate than yourself.
4) Memorialize a deceased mother on Mother's Day by writing her a poem or letter that expresses the sentiment and thoughts about the most remarkable woman that not only shaped but also gave you life. You may even wish to create a journal with photographs and captions as well as written updates on your life in progress.
5) Plant a special garden that commemorates your mom and tend to it with love as a pledge to keep her memory alive and magnificently beautiful for all to see and admire. No doubt everyone will smile as they view the splendid foliage and blooms that represent a mother’s love and adoration held in high regard for her family. The choice of flowers is of course a personal one and whether you opt for a stunning array of bright and cheerful sun-flowers, a multi-colored display of stunning roses or an all-white carnation garden bed in her honor; it will be just right.
6) Those grieving the loss of a deceased mother may like to visit her grave on Mother's Day and whisper silent praises that only she can hear which is in fact very comforting and beneficial to do. A bouquet of simple white carnations laid upon her grave is a suitable gesture of respect and honor.
Finally; take refuge in the solace offered in the anonymously written quote “Mothers hold their children's hands for a short while, their hearts forever." A mother's love is eternal and even in death that bond will never be broken; so pay homage this and every Mother's day to come by rejoicing in the special relationship that only mothers share.
