This is why I think the world would be more peaceful without religion.
I am an Atheist with gay friends, some of them are religious and question whether the gender they fall in love with makes them bad people. I really think if there were a God, he should be able to accept love in any form. Love creates human happiness, surely happiness and goodness would be what God would want?

I really will never understand why falling in love could ever be considered a sin. I also think no one, no matter what religion, race or gender you are, should be able to tell someone who they fall in love them makes them a bad person.  What right do you have to tell a law abiding homosexual that they are a sinner in the eyes of God? And obviously, homosexuality and paedophilia are not similar at all. How can you compare two adults in a loving relationship that happen to be of the same sex, to a adult that is attracted sexually to children? That is truly ridiculous, in fact, I think my gay friends would laugh at that it's so silly.

I do not hate religion, I simply think you can be a good person with good morals without it. In fact, in the Bible the morals taught are really not that admirable.Teaching to hate homosexuals, to treat women like objects and that violence is all too often necessary are teachings I will not pass onto my children, I'm afraid. Honestly, parts of most religions are lovely, and things that I would love to believe, but far too much of the teachings in not just Christianity, but other religions too, are quite frankly evil.

I'd like you, as the open minded person you portrayed yourself as in the article ;) to simply read through the words of John Lennon and disagree with me that it is not a nicer thought than your, from your article, seemingly hate filled religion?

'Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace'

I'll leave you with one more note; Hitler was religious. In fact he says in Mein Kampf, 'I am convinced I am working as the Agent of our Creator'. And the Infantry soldiers wore belts inscribed with 'Gott mit uns'. Religion doesn't make you a great person. I hope you didn't find my comment offensive in any way, interesting hopefully? My comment was simply to interest you, make you think more open mindedly, not to insult you at all. Just to emphasize this, I do not hate religion, but I think it causes many problems and that in a perfect world, we would be without it.

I hope you find yourself accepting people for who they are more, instead of telling them they are sinners? :) :)

xx
