Rogues are the sneaky class amongst those in the World of Warcraft. Their ability to stealth and sneak into places or use it to ambush unsuspecting victims is only found elsewhere in the druid’s Catform. Rogues are also excellent melee damage dealer. They are also the only class with the ability to pick locks and disarm traps. Rogues also make extensive use of poisons, which have a variety of effects from extra damage to slowing casting or movement speed.
Usable weapons and armour
Rogues can use up to leather armour. Rogues may use the following weapon types one-handed swords, axes and maces, daggers, and fist weapons. They may use bows, guns, crossbows and thrown weapons for ranged attacks. The rogue’s abilities at high level encourage the use of thrown weapons however.
Leveling
Rogues are a fairly easy class to level with good crowd control skills and skills like vanish and sprint to get them out of trouble. The ability to stealth also allows you to sneak past mobs other classes would have to fight to get through.
Group role
Rogues are a melee damage dealing class with good crowd control from sap and amongst the best stunning and spell interrupting abilities in the game. If you have leveled your skill, they are also capable of picking locked doors and chests as well as opening lock boxes. Feint and vanish are also excellent threat-reducing abilities.
Specialisation
Like all classes, rogues have three areas they may specialise into:
Assassination: Enhances the rogues already potent critical strike chance from stealth and improves many finishing moves. This spec can also be used to enhance the effects of the rogue’s poisons.
Combat: Enhances the bare damage dealing power of the rogue and improves many of the rogues basic attacks like sinister strike. It also includes duel wield specialisation and precision talents all rogues should look into.
Subtlety: Enhances the rogues stealth abilities and abilities that stun or otherwise remove mobs from fighting. Shadow step is an excellent ability but does take some getting used to in order to maximise its full potential
Main stats
Main stats for any rogue are melee hit, agility, attack power and crit. Different specialisations favour slightly different combinations of these.
Pickpocket
Rogues also get the pickpocket ability that they can use on humanoid mobs when stealthed. This is an excellent way to make extra cash and should also provide you with lock boxes with which to level up your picklock ability.
Hopefully, I have provided you with an insight into the rogue class in World of Warcraft.
