I am a poet
I see the world through the eyes of an artist
My pencil paints an image of the world
I see the sapphire blue of the sky
The ruby red of the rose
The rain falls to earth
With a soft pitter patter like that of children
The wind cries and moans
The birds sing out
Calling to a mate in a nearby tree
I am a poet
I breathe only when I write
Only when pencil touches paper do I live
Oh how my heart beats
When I bring that which is lifeless to life
