How useful are cell phones?

Cell phones have a great deal of usefulness in today's world. There was a time that cell phones (previously known as car phones) were a convenience that was only afforded by the wealthier of society. People who couldn't afford them saw them as nothing more than an unnecessary toy. Most people don't know how to function without them today.

Cell phones aren't just about being able to have a chat with your parents on Sunday afternoons. They are about life itself. Cell phones have changed the way we do everything. They are simply much more convenient. We don't just use our cell phones for calls anymore though. If you purchase a smart phone, you can do everything you can imagine from the phone.

Yes, cell phones are useful for making phone calls. In fact, that should be the first consideration when purchasing a new cell phone. All the other useful purposes of a cell phone should be considered second. You should be able to hold a cell phone signal wherever you go. Without that, you don't have much use from your cell phone. Emergencies are much easier to handle when you are away from a house phone, for instance. If you get a flat tire, you no longer have to wait for someone to come along to save you. You can make a phone call to have someone come help you. Business calls are much easier as well. If you are on the road, you can easily get calls from clients and co-workers about work.

Cell phones also allow you to take pictures and videos. Get a smartphone and you can send those directly to your social networking sites or through emails from your phone. You can get on the internet as well. This allows for convenient look ups for things that you want to find out when you are away from your computer. There is no end to the usefulness of a cell phone today.

If you want a GPS navigation system, you no longer have to spend hundreds of dollars for the convenience. Your cell phone most likely has a system in it that works very well. In fact, you can get a great GPS system in phones such as Droid. It uses Google maps, one of the best map systems available. The best part is that you don't have to worry about updating the maps which costs a lot of money when you have a separate GPS system. You will get the updates automatically at no extra cost.

The bottom line is that cell phones allow you to do most everything from it. You have a camera, video machine, text messaging, phone, internet and GPS systems all in one. It can save you hundreds of dollars in other equipment and you don’t have to carry around a lot of different tools for it. They are simply amazing and have so many uses it would be difficult to name them all in one short article. Don't take your cell phone for granted. It is an all in one tool that you will learn to love if you get all the gadgets on it figured out.
