I wrote this poem while my husband was in the gulf...
A Sailors Wife
To my wonderful husband and Navy Sailor
Today is the day his ship pulls out,
six months of floating about.
He kisses the kids and hugs the wife,
then waves goodbye to our life.
Today his little girl sent him a letter,
with a picture of him and us together.
Today is our sons first day of school,
he is not here to see him be so cool.
Today our youngest tied his shoe,
dad would have loved to see this too.
Today we celebrate the day we wed,
him in his rack and me in our bed.
Today in costumes out we went,
some of the candy to dad we sent.
Today Santa left us some toys,
daddy missed all the morning noise.
Today we wish for a happy new year,
I long for the day that he will be here.
Today he returns to our life,
a wonderful day to be a Navy wife.
