Why Bush should be impeached: Adding up the costs in Iraq

Clinton broke the law when he lied under oath. He was therefore impeached by the House of Representatives, though he remained president because he was acquitted by the Senate.

Bush should be impeached if he has similarly broken the law. If he hasn't broken the law, then he shouldn't be impeached.

The Iraq war may have been a mistake in retrospect, but if so, it is a mistake shared by Congress and intelligence community. The war was authorized based on the best information present at the time. It was conducted in a professional manner on the terms of professional Army commanders.

The war is, in my opinion, a mistake. But we don't impeach the president for a mistake, we impeach the president when he breaks American law. If we elect a bad president, we have only to wait four years before we throw him out of office. If we elect him twice, the mistake is ours.
