Poetry: Losing your first love

by Salina Prether

Created on: April 03, 2010

The first love of my life was so much fun, spending the days out in the sun.

Laying for hours in the yard at night, talking and laughing till morning light.

counting the stars twinkling like dreams, time would stand still so it seemed.

But that was years ago oh how time flies, I still remember the tears that I cried.

He went on with his life gone like the dust, and I stayed behind my heart simply crushed.

But you know time it will heal most any pain , now all those years seem just like a dream.

Though I still think of him from time to time, He is just a memory of love in my mind.

It was real the love that we shared back then, I wish we would have stayed close friends.

For no other love is the same so it seems, as the one that starts your love wishing dreams.
