Like its previous entry, Jak II had turned out to be a very successful game. Developed by Naughty Dog, this is one game that will leave you astonished by the time you're through with this game. The game, like most other games, picks off from where it left off. Jak and Daxter were experimenting with a portal that accidentally lead them years into the dreaded future. For 2 years, Jak was taken captive in prison until Daxter came to break him out.
Some might say this is a duplicate, teen rated version of Grand Theft Auto. The game is also noted for its very steep difficulty. Many complain about this, but this seems to be one of the very few flaws of Jak II. It'll start off easy at first, but after a couple missions the game suddenly becomes increasingly more difficult and frustrating. At times, you may even want to smash your controller at the wall, but that would definitely be one thing you'd regret in the near future.
However, if you enjoy difficult games, you'll really love Jak II. If you don't, this game can still be plenty fun. When a cutscene plays after successfully having completed a mission, you feel like you've accomplished something and enjoy the short break that you have.
Jak has definitely changed since its previous entry. For one, he'll actually say something and his behavior tends to be most rowdy. Due to the dark eco experiments tested upon him during his prison time, Jak has become a whole new character.
A worthwhile addition of the game were the weapons. You start off with no weapons, but gain a total of 4 weapons after beating the game. The first is the scatter gun. As the name implies, it's used when a whole crowd of enemies come attacking towards you. This is a close range, but effective weapon. Next is the blaster weapon, not long received after the scatter gun. This gun is a rapid laser rifle. If you have any doubts about range, the blaster weapon will do the job. The vulcan fury comes after the blaster weapon and is basically a duplicate of a machine gun. Though your enemies will die rather quickly, be cautious. This weapon chews up a lot of ammo and will require restocking very often. The last and most powerful weapon of them all is the peace maker. Here's one weapon that will instantly clear a path for you most, if not all of the time.
To sum it up, just get this game. $8 is a very good price for a very good game.
