The end of Main Stream Media
What used to be called Mainstream Media, is losing money and viewers at a record pace, which has never been seen before. Could it be a bad economy? We've had bad economies before. The most obvious reason is, news reporters aren’t doing their job. The difference between a reporter and a journalist is enormous.
A reporter is someone that repeats what he heard. A journalist analyzes these reports and checks the facts. This requires more work than just repeating. Reporters are showing their lack of ambition and critical analysis.
This creates mistrust with the more cerebral public [Just because it is said, doesn’t mean it is true]. Reliability is the only quality a news agency has. Not the fancy dresses and expensive broadcasting equipment, or music entertainment.
News agencies are becoming nothing more than voices of the government. These reporters are nothing more than wanna be celebrities, curtseying and smiling before the camera. Nods and winks, and the fancy TV advertising where a news agency tries to build up the name of their wanna be celebs.
Off the top of your head, see how many of these wanna bes you can name: at least 5 or 6. It is revolting to see how they flatter each other and consider themselves "Intellectuals!"
Why, because they graduated college? No college teaches intelligence. Shouldn’t the label Intellectual, be reserved for someone who shows a high level of critical analysis?
I would consider a journalist an intellectual because they show their ambition in critical analysis. They show their words are their own based on their understanding of history, tradition, and the law. A reporter would read a letter on the air, and it is the first time he read it.
A journalist would have read the letter, analyzed its effectiveness, and checked the numbers given, and then read it on the air. A conservative journalist would read the letter and analyze its practicality, and compare the numbers reported, with the true numbers.
When a journalist does this, they enhance their reputation for reliability, and thereby garner the public trust. The so-called, mainstream media has sacrificed its reputation for reliability, while true journalists gain it, and gain audience attention. The public feels betrayed by what was mainstream media. And true journalists have awakened the people.
It is simple, mainstream needs to fire all their reporters and hire journalists, or they are doomed. Their last ditch effort to save them, as government media is to get money from the bail out package. If it would work, the government would love to do this. But no matter how much money they get, it won’t develop public trust.
