Without Xbox Live, you will be bored with "Left 4 Dead" in a day. With Xbox Live you will be bored of it with in two weeks, maybe even sooner. Despite the anticipation that was hyped up, “Left 4 Dead” feels more like a “Half Life 2” mod that could have been the next "Counter Strike" had the creative team put little more effort into adding more elements to the gameplay.

Even thought the plot is really not that important for a game like this, here is all that you need to know. “Left 4 Dead” is set during the aftermath of a pandemic were four survivors are pitted in a struggle against hordes of zombies.

In theory "Left 4 Dead" should be fin since its a FPS that is all about blasting away zombies. In reality the game is fun so long as the player is easily amused by the same repetitive gameplay for hours with out realizing that what he is playing by the 11th minute is boring. The setup is good, but the creators were lazy about putting stuff in.

“Left 4 Dead” is a lot like “Battlefield 1942” only your arsenal is very limited and your selection of levels is only five while the choice of characters offers no real advantage other then what ever you think is cool. Basically they took a note of the best elements of multiplayer and forgot about it.

A game like this is only fun if you have a variety (will be defined as more then 10) of killing implements which sadly you will only have 6. When its time to unleash hell, that feel of combat is going to fade away very soon (especially when you have been playing “Resident Evil” for the last 10 years).

One would feel that the levels would make up for the lack of killing implements; however this part is also hit by the lack of variety. Not only are you limited in choice, they all feel like the same level. No destruction, no hidden passages, no secrets, just one maze with a straight line to the cheese.

By now you should be asking your self “did I blow my money on an over rated mod?” The answer is yes, you did waste your money on something that should have been a $10 or free download. Instead we got fools gold passed off as creativity. But since you have to pay with Xbox Live, your better of blasting zombies in “Call of Duty: World at War”.

If you’re easily amused then go ahead and waste $60 on what feels life a mod. For other gamers it was a lot better to have waited a years for “Resident Evil 5” to be released.
