Diner dash is a game app for the iphone and the ipod touch based off the computer game and made by playfirst inc. There is a lite version that lets you try out the game for a little while and a pay version that costs 99 cents. Also from the same people is cooking dash which costs 2.99 and seems to use similar art and gameplay.

There are a lot of things that I have wanted to do in my life that I have been unable to do and even more things that would likely be exciting but I really don’t wan to do. To me this is one of the things that makes video games so much fun. You can step into a world that you otherwise can’t. Being a waitress is not one of those things, and yet diner dash still makes it fun.

You begin the job with a small restaurant and a short tutorial that shows you how to seat people, take orders, get their food, then take their money and clean off the tables. All the things that you generally do in as a waitress in a restaurant and get tired of after the first night. In addition you must try to match the clothing with the seats in order to get bonus points as well as trying to do multiple jobs of the same type in a row to get bonuses.  These are things that are less common when you are working at a real restaurant but they add a fair amount of room for the game to become more interesting.

As you advance in the game it becomes increasingly more difficult as you have different sized tables, more colors, and even coffee that can make people happier and all of it is quite a bit of fun though doing so on the small iphone screen does get a little tiring and I’m not sure if I’d want to play a longer version of it than the lite version.

If you have played this on the computer, or are simply looking for a quick game on the iphone or ipod touch that lets you mindlessly relax, or if you’ve always wanted to be a waitress but never been able to achieve that goal then this is a fun game and the free version lets you play more than long enough to decide if you want to play the full game so give it a chance.
