Odd. Very odd indeed don't you think?
How two seemingly different items
are made from the same source
but are made into different little gems.
Pencil. Paper. Both made from a tree,
one made to create communication,
one made to do nothing but recieve.
They work completely in tandem
and yet they are entirely contrasting.
The oddest thing I think of these things
is together they make something fantastic!
Together they give a poet her voice.
Together they give an artist his eyes.
Together they make us all a little better,
more understanding, more wise.
But apart they seem to do nothing
but rest in a writer's limp hand.
Apart they are simply two items -
just nature's unselfish gift to man.

Take this pencil from my face
This piece of paper from my space
I do not feel like writing any poetry today

Pencil and paper,
primitive tools,
recording the words
of both scholars and fools.

inspirational seeds,

Some call it old-fashion
For many its obsolete
Personally for me though
It simply can't be beat
The feel of the pencil
Pencils overflowing
spilling longing
all over my page
A messy contrivance of
shadow lines unreal
words giving lie to themselves
A marriage of pencil and paper
creates a union which gives birth
to a wailing of words.
Words born from experience...
or not.
