Firemaking can help save time when needing to cook something, and it is also one of the most simple skills to train in Runescape. Though it is very easy to train, it can be a very boring, mind-numbing experience if you want to master firemaking and get level99. To get level99 in firemaking, you will need lots of patience and determination. To light a fire, you need a tinderbox, just use the tinderbox on the pile of logs you want to light.
Tips
Always store the logs you have cut or collected in your bank, so when you feel you have enough of them, you can just light all of them in one go.
Carry a tinderbox wherever you go, this way you can light any logs you see or so happen to cut, and it can be very useful if you need to cook something and there isn’t a cooking range nearby.
When lighting the logs, go to somewhere spacious like the Grand Exchange, so you won’t need to adjust your character’s position all the time, but rather just let him keep lighting logs in a long line.
Try to always burn the best type of wood you can, this way you can maximize your efficiency and increase levels more quickly because better types of logs gives you much more experience points than the type before.
If you have enough money and you don’t want or need to train your woodcutting level, you can always just buy the logs instead of chopping them yourself as this will save you lots more time.
If you are using the wood you are chopping to train firemaking, be sure to use the best axe you can, so you can chop down trees more quickly, and thus you can get to lighting your logs more quickly.
Stay determined and keep yourself motivated, because firemaking is a very boring skill to train, so remind yourself why you are doing it and if you are getting sick of it, take a break, go train a different skill for a while and come back later or the next day.
The road to level99
If you are a free player on Runescape, then honestly I find that there really isn’t much point in getting your firemaking level to 99. But if you are a member or you simply insist to get your firemaking level to 99 then read on!
Level 1-15
Cut and burn normal logs in Draynor Village forest because there are lots of trees there.
Level 16-30
Continue to cut and burn logs in Draynor Village forest, but instead of normal logs, use Oak logs.
Level 31-50
Free players should cut Willow logs at Draynor Village, because there are 4 Willow trees right next to the bank, so it is easy to store logs. Members should cut and burn Willow logs behind the Seers’ Village bank.
Level 51-65
Free players can’t cut Maple logs, but can light them, so at this stage, you can choose to buy and light the Maple logs, which will significantly increase your leveling speed, but they are quite expensive. If you can’t afford Maple logs, just continue to cut and light Willow trees at Draynor Village. Members can cut and burn Maple logs behind Seers’ Village bank, or they can cut and burn Mahagony logs at Tai Bwo Wannai.
Level 66-99
Free players can choose to either stay cutting and burning willow logs, or they can buy yew and maple logs, it is not recommended to cut and light yew logs because it takes a very long time to cut and there is also a lot of competition from other players. It is best for members to stay with Maple logs, but they can move on to Yew or Eucalyptus logs if they want to.
