In Passing
My love, I had a dream that I tried my best to share with you,
Despite my best efforts lover, it appears that the worst is true.
Not to say that you were less deserving in my thoughts,
But a love so grandiose just wasn’t meant for you.
Move on my dream and find your own way home.
Let me be my lover, and that path I’ll find on my own
Together we could have walked, but instead I will go at it alone.
For every tearstained heart, there is a home
I will not be alone though my friend, but in company that you just couldn’t keep.
Try your best, old flame, to imagine me holding you wherever you may sleep.
And forever may the love I gave you exist, and that you know not to weep.
Partners like us; we may come like a comet and make our rounds.
My dear, don’t let that fleeting image get your little heart down.
Forever parted we may be but I promise that at least once more I will be around.
Perhaps a word or two we might exchange, in passing tones that be.
All that was “us”, it may come flashing in a moment’s reflection.
Being all and only, just a long passed memory.

by Eric Lies
The flowers sit by the door,
withering on the stone cold floor.
You'll grace this place nevermore.
The bed is not made,
no bills
Twilight fades and blossoms wither
Ever drawing a stillness hither
Silence is loud, a beating drum
Signal war now death my
I know that time heals
Yet it drags on so slow
And as much as I miss you
You had to go
I knelt at your bedside
On the cold, tile
One day you were here
And the next you were gone
We all had to stay
And you were called home
God must have had something
