Heart disease is nasty, and can rob you of years. To try and prevent heart disease, you must first look at your life from an introspective angle, and find out where there are some dietary mistakes, and exercise neglect that may need to be ratified.

While some people are genetically prone to heart disease, this does not mean that you cannot combat this crippling disease, and you can prolong the quality of your life with some simple lifestyle modifications.

The prevention of heart disease is not entirely an accurate statement. Reducing the risk of heart disease is more appropriate. The key to reducing the risk of heart disease is to make some necessary lifestyle changes that will be able to greatly decrease your likelihood of suffering from the nasty effects of heart disease. These two components, food and exercise, can provide a great contribution to the reducing or preventing of heart disease. Another lifestyle change that you may need to make is in regards to your smoking habits.

Smoking has been linked to causing heart disease, so the sooner you quit smoking, the better. Smoking can lead you to a sedentary lifestyle, since you are constantly standing around smoking (generally with others, so you are also taking in other people's smoke), and lacking the requisite energy to exercise.

Many foods also do not taste as well when your mouth is consistently infiltrated with smoke, so you will not have the same ability to exercise and eat properly. Quitting smoking can greatly reduce your risk of heart disease.
