Supplements for cats with arthritis

Some Excellent Help for my Kitty with Arthritis (NOT an advertisement)

Tha-thunk, tha-thunk.  I listened to Mitzi trying to go down the stairs in our house. It broke my heart to see my once active girl slowed down this much.  She must be hurting too and could no longer jump onto our captain's bed with the other cats.

I had read that glucosamine, chondroitin and MSM helped “people” joints and had been taking the supplement (sold everywhere) for some time myself and only realized how much relief I was getting when I went on vacation and forgot to pack it. I began to have pain in parts I didn't even know I had.

One call to the vet assured me that animals (they began putting it in the older dog food in some cases) did fine with this supplement. For our girl (she was a larger Maine Coon sized kitty) he suggested placing one adult “people” tablet in a small amount of water to melt it and giving Mitzi half of that dose per day mixed in her food. I started the process.  It can take up to a month to see result in a person so I wasn't expecting instant cures.

Sometime later I (might have been several weeks) I heard a cat zooming and RUNNING up the stairs and then a plop on the captain's bed. I wondered who is the world THAT was (we had 3 cats at that time) and went upstairs to see what was having a good day and being that energetic. There on the captain's bed lay Mitzi!

We began to watch her and it was like “kitten-hood” had been gifted to that older lady again.  She chased toys that had been long forgotten.  She chased the younger kitties in the household and was a flash of fur on the stairs. It was almost as if she was saying “look at me, pain FREE!”

When I saw the vet again he was encouraged to hear the story as he'd had his doubts as to how it would work.  He was a champion shooter and had taken the supplement for his achy hands and had not gotten the relief he desired. Mitzi gave us a good report and I doubt placebos work on animals.

Since then another of our herd (didn't know cats came in herds? Come visit us and you will find out, we now have four indoor and spoiled kitties) Stormy Blue had developed arthritis.  He is also greatly helped by the supplement and we can sure tell the difference if I run out of forget to give it to him for just a couple of days. Tha-thunk, tha-thunk then becomes a familiar sound in the house once again.
