Just as the University of Florida was lucky to have such an athlete for four years, the National Football League will love to have Tim Tebow in the league for as many years as he wishes to play. Tebow has intangibles that earn the respect of Superbowl winning head coach Tony Dungy, who has also coached no doubt Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning.
Although Tebow greatly wishes to be a successful quarterback in the NFL, he knows that he will do whatever it takes to be a successful player.
There has been no other player in college football history to pass for 20 or more touchdowns in the same season as he rushed for 20 or more touchdowns.
There has never in the history of college football history been a player to win a Heisman trophy in his sophomore season. Likewise, no player has ever made a promise, in front of national media outlets, and delivered a BCS National Championship like Tebow. The 'promise' no immortalized on the wall at Ben Hill Griffin stadium.
Tebow is arguably the most decorated college football player of all time. Two national championships, two southeastern conference championships, a Heisman trophy, and a plethora of other awards received in his four year tenure at the University of Florida. To assume that this success cannot transfer to the NFL is absurd.
Tebow is said to need mechanical polishing in order to be successful as a quarterback. He worked hard to adjust his throwing motion, and in a very short time period corrected many flaws in his delivery.
A delivery he had for his entire career until that point. If he made that significant of improvement in such a short window it is easy to conceive that with solid NFL coaching he could solidify his throwing mechanics within a year or two.
That is usually the amount of time young quarterbacks or groomed behind a veteran quarterback anyhow. Rarely are rookie quarterbacks asked to step in as the franchise quarterback and start having an immediate impact.
Assuming years down the road the team which drafts him decides he is no longer effective as a quarterback, Tebow is as big as many running backs or tight ends. With his speed and strength he could be converted to play many other positions on a football team.
Tim Tebow will be successful at the next level playing the National Football League. He has what many assume is a tough road ahead, but did he not have a tough road in college? By all accounts, two national championship rings and a Heisman trophy are not items handed out very easily.
