Summer is the perfect time for couples to get away from the daily grind and spend some quality time with one another. Many couples take a yearly vacation during the summer, and you might be looking for some new  and unique suggestions for your trip together. Here are some ideas to consider when planning your next vacation together:

Memory Lane

Take a trip back to the place where you first met one another. All couples will remember the place where they first met, and going back to visit that place would be a special way to spend a vacation. Take a trip to the first restaurant you went to together, rent the first movie you ever watched together, and visit the places you used to frequent when you were first dating. Revisiting some of your old memorable places would be a great way to reminisce about your love and is also a vacation that does not have to be very costly.

Second Honeymoon

Consider visiting the city where you had your honeymoon, especially if you have been married for ten years or more. A honeymoon is such a special time for a couple, and revisiting that place would be a great way to spend a vacation. You can try to find restaurants, theaters, and secluded places that you frequented when you were there on your honeymoon, as well as discover new places together for an enjoyable combination of old and new.

House Swap

If you are adventurous and would like to save some money on your vacation, consider a house swap with another couple. Stay Home

If going away is not an option at all, you can still have a lovely vacation right at home. Plan something special to do together each day. Some suggestions for activities include going on a hike at a nearby nature preserve, taking a picnic dinner to the park and watching the sun go down, visit a local restaurant you have never eaten at, or host a dinner party for your friends. The truth is, you do not have to go away somewhere to have a wonderful time together; with the right person, that can happen wherever you are.

Community Service

Some couples find it invigorating to spend a vacation helping someone else or making a difference in their community. If this is the case for you, consider joining with Habitat for Humanity in building a house in a community near you or even traveling overseas to help with a disaster relief program. Such a trip can really serve to bring you closer together as a couple as you help other people.

Taking a summer vacation as a couple is one of the most exciting things to do together and is well worth the investment of both time and money. With a little creativity, you can experience your best summer vacation yet as a couple and create fantastic memories for the years to come!
