My Angel in the Rain
I spy my angel
In my moment of need.
She flits through my curtain of doubt and despair,
Breaks through the rain-
A flickering flame-
And watches me cry.
She touches my weary head with a gentle hand
Healing the ache behind the tears.
O lovely messenger,
Did you know how deeply I needed you?
Have you brought me the communication
For which I’ve waited oh so long,
And with such anticipation?
She shakes her head,
Her presence the only message she bears,
And yet I find
that gentle touch,
that light in the storm
to be enough.
