lucky for us they now make jumbo-size foam rollers that you can barely feel when you're sleeping.
"Dry your hair at night with a volumizer and then put in rollers to sleep with" suggests Haraguchi. "The next morning the rollers can be removed and will create instant volume."
As an added luxury, and homage to an old school beauty routine, try a satin pillowcase. Harguchi explains that "Satin pillowcases are beneficial to preserving your blow outs. It keeps your hair smooth, tangle free and prevents creases." (As a testament to the benefit of satin pillowcases, my usual straight-up-in-the-air cowlick was virtually non-existent after a night on the satin pillowcase a fete that I never dreamed possible.)
If you don't have a satin pillowcase, try using a silk scarf around your head. It will perform the same function as a satin pillowcase with the added bonus of holding all your rollers in place.
Extra Time
If you have a little extra time, try utilizing some hot rollers. "If you don't have rollers, dry hair 70-80% through and fasten two inch sections of your hair making pin curls" offers Harguchi. Then simply blow-dry, tousle with your fingers and va-va-voom instant volume is yours.
Another big project for volume involves about twenty hair clips. McCoy suggests starting with towel dried hair. Then, using butterfly clips, clip hair in small sections randomly on the top of your head. Use a blow dryer with an attached diffuser to dry the clipped sections of hair it should take about 10-15 minutes. When you're done drying, spritz your air with a light hold hair spray. Remove the clips and scrunch hair into place. Voila mega volume.
So no matter what hair you were born with, your hair should now be the envy of all flat-tressed ladies out there. Don't waste it...get out there and show it off!
