part. "Your usual side part can get flat if wearing in the same style all the time. Switch it up and flip to the other side for instant volume."
Want to create a crazy-volume look? "Insane volume is simple," explains Conway. "TEASE it! First, you can start with a root volumizer on the roots before you dry your hair. Then, after you are dry, take small sections and tease them using a fine-toothed comb, then spray it with a good spray to hold it. Over-comb the sections you want smooth looking and voila!"
Usual Routine
Roger J. Stricker, head of Wig and Make-up at Cirque du Soleil's Zumanity has two ways to get sky-high hair, depending on the time you have to put out. "This style is high on volume, low on maintenance and takes 7-10 minutes to do (really!)"
Start with damp towel dried hair. Spray volumizer at your roots. Turn your head upside down and begin to blow dry your hair using a blow dryer with an attached diffuser. Start upside down from nape of neck scrunching your hair with your hand and work towards your crown. Flip your head over, finish drying and scrunching the rest of the crown and top of your head. When you are all dry, spritz your hair with a light hold hair spray and position your hair into place with your fingers.
Dry your hair 80% through. Next, place 2-2.5" rollers (3" roller if your hair is extra long) from front to back and completely finish drying your hair in this position. Take out all of the rollers, turn your head upside down, and comb through with an extra large wide tooth comb (but stay away from the roots!). It's best to be two inches from the roots to prevent flattening out the volume that you just created. Flip your hair back up and adjust your front sections where you want them to be. Set with hairspray and dispense 12" away from your hair or it will become too wet and lose volume.
According to Haraguchi, if you have wavy hair, and want to play up the volume, turn your head upside down and dry with a diffuser while scrunching your hair. This will make your hair wavy and add tons of volume.
Conway also has another way to attain the wavy look. She suggests applying a curl enhancing spray on damp hair. Then, twirl small sections around your fingers pin in place. After your hair air-dries, add a drop of shine gloss or serum and gently run it through your hair for shine and frizz control. The look will be loose, wavy and full.
