Tic.....toc......tic......toc......murmurs my old clock
Outside busy sparrows build their summer nests.
Barely heard above the machine whisper of my computer,
Their little chirrups call gently to me,
Surprising and distracting me from the task I've set myself-
To write down my impressions of what makes up "the quiet world."
Here in the silence of the center of my life,
Alone in the room that's become my place of peace,
Fingertips hammering lovingly against these keys, my release,
I'm attempting to find words to give to you, the reader
Some small part of what’s inside of me.
Who I am, what I find of import, passes through my mind,
Where I've been and what I’ve done, all possibilities,
But one idle thought stands out among the rest,
This moment, in this quiet world, it whispers, calling me
To climb into my waiting bed and capture restful zzzzzzzzzs.
