Top 10 favorite celebrity couples of all time

Not every celebrity couple is a favorite, especially at the cost of a broken heart.  This is why Brad and Angelina will never be the beloved couple that Brad and Jen were, and why we didn't like Liz Taylor and Eddie Fisher together even half as much as we liked the Eddie and Debbie (Reynolds) duo.  Jenn and Debbie's broken hearts  only made us love them more, while we loathed the women who stole their man!   If only their off-screen romances could be as successful as their on-screen ones, Hollywood would definitely be a better place!

In this humble writer's opinion, these are the top ten favorite celebrity couples of all time:

1) GEORGE BURNS AND GRACIE ALLEN

The famous vaudeville couple met in 1922, were married in 1923 and stayed wed until Gracie's untimely death in 1964.  Even though George lived to be 100, he never married another.  "Say goodnight, Gracie," was as common a catchphrase in their day as "Goodnight, John Boy" became during 'The Walton's' television reign some thirty years later.  Everyone loved George and Gracie, and we mourned right along with George when he lost his beloved Gracie.

2) CLARK GABLE AND CAROLE LOMBARD

Their brief marriage was even made into a low-rated screenplay starring James Brolin and Jill Clayburgh.  Gable and Lombard met a Hollywood party, hated each other, but then ended up falling in love.  Even though Gable was married at the time of their meeting, they were still considered America's sweethearts.  They affectionately nicknamed each other 'ma' and 'pa', and even used their pet names in public.  They eoped in 1939, and were married until her death in a plane crash in 1942.  Those closest to Clark said that he never got over losing her.

3) HUMPHREY BOGART AND LAUREN BACALL

The leading star of 'Casa Blanca' (Bogart), which many consider to be the most romantic movie of all time, had one of the sweetest off-stage romances in Hollywood history, as well.  Forty-four year old Bogart didn't do well in the marriage department until he married nineteen year old actress, Lauren Bacall.  They called each other 'baby' both in public and private.  Of his four marriages, Bogie often said that theirs was the only one that brought him any happiness.  They were married fourteen years, until Bogart's death in 1957.

4) LUCILLE BALL AND DESI ARNAZ

We all loved Lucy, but we loved Desi and Lucy as the
