The Animal Inside Me
My internal beast is five decades old
And remembers things
From when he was four.
He is quick to anger and can punch the air
In fury,
Imaginary antagonists crumpling
Before his blows,

And admired,
Drinks it in like heady wine
Which he also copiously consumes.
My animal argues for fun
For joy
For thrill
The kill
For angst
For hate
The mate
For proof
His Truth.
