If you are planning on making your own Easter Baskets, you need to consider the best candy to add to these Easter Baskets. A general rule of thumb is to pack the basket with candy that is individually wrapped or wrapped in groups. You don’t want to have a lot of loose candy lying in the basket to get lost or dirty. After you make that consideration, you should consider about the taste of the person you are giving the basket. If the person is a chocolate lover, you should fill the basket with all sorts of chocolates. However, if the person is allergic to chocolate you are in for a challenge. Here is some ideas to get you started:

Wrapped packages of jelly beans. If you can’t find these in wrapped packages that are small enough to fit your basket, purchase some Zip Lock type baggies yourself and make up some packages. Jelly beans are great to add to Easter baskets because they are colorful, soft and inexpensive.

Peeps. We all love these colorful marshmallow treats and too many it wouldn’t be Easter without a package or two of these.

Reese’s Easter Eggs. You can buy these in individual packages or a package that contains a few. They taste a lot like the Reese’s Cup we all love, just with an added bit of peanut butter.

Chocolate Easter Eggs with Coconut Flavorings. These types of eggs are special eggs for some and are a look forward item each Easter.

Chocolate Easter bunnies of all shapes and sizes. You can buy Chocolate Easter Bunnies in a variety of sizes from a small size that can be finished in a few bites to a large one that may take days to finish. These Bunnies can also be purchases hollow or solid. Remember to think about the size of the person and the basket as you purchase these.

Chocolate covered eggs with marshmallow fillings. These are usually found in packages that resemble an egg carton, which may be too big for the normal sized Easter basket. You may still wish to add these to an Easter basket. Just remove them from their carton and place in a Zip Lock baggie of your own.

Chocolate Malt Balls that resembles small eggs. These may come in large packages or small packages. Of course, the small packages are preferable when filling an Easter Basket.

Once you have your candy items all picked out, find a toy or two and you will have your Easter basket all set. And yes, you can make these for kids of all ages, even the grown ups.  Just change up the toy choices a bit.
