As a society we focus a great deal on outward appearances. How are we perceived by the public. Are our teeth white enough? Is the gray hair hidden? Are we wearing trending clothes? Are we thin enough to meet with the standards of the fashion runway? There are so many products today that cater to our eagerness to look younger, thinner, prettier, handsomer and so forth. Although it is important to maintain an overall clean and healthy persona we sometimes lose sight of the fact that what is inside and how we conduct ourselves will either benefit us or be our spiritual demise.
Having a good conscience and the ability to be understanding to the needs of others will make us spiritually healthy and a good force to better society in general. As we prepare for a new season and clean house sort of speak we should also take a hard look at the person beneath the exterior. Is it time to clean house spiritually as well?
It is important to take a look at, if, and how we should change our overall outlook to the world we live in. Spiritual wellness is the foundation of the true person. The way we show compassion to others and the patience we have will in turn be an asset to our selves. We should take time every year to give our spiritual selves an overview and decide if there is a need for improvement. Is God in our lives and are we nourishing our souls.
Do we put the needs of others before us and are we willing to forgive one another for past transgressions? Are we happy with our lives and are we doing everything possible to be decent, productive, loving people who will grow and be a positive force to the world we live in? It is never too late to incorporate a healthy spiritual side of the overall person. We can always be kinder, more patient, more understanding, more giving and thankful for the blessings we have. We should focus on this aspect of our being the same way we focus and put emphasis on our outward appearance.
When we have a healthy spiritual side everything else will fall into place. As we change our dieting habits to live a healthy life and incorporate exercise into our daily routine we should work on the spiritual aspect of who we are, which comes from within. With a healthy spiritual self, our lives will be more fulfilled and we will grow as people who are not only concerned with the way others view our exterior but also the way our inner beauty resonates.
