Poetry: Horseback riding

If you can come ride with me

Through the creek, or across the field,

Or along the beach by the sea.

Shall we go up some scenic trails?

How about along a deserted path?

Don't be alarmed should we be caught In the rain.

Have a horses kind of bath!

If you can, come ride with me. Adventure awaits!

What's around the next bend?

What gifts do nature to us send?

Ears prick forward alert to movement and sound.

Do you see that white tail flash of a runaway deer?

Calls from the bird's song drift to our ear.

If you can come ride with me. Be mesmerized by flowing mane,

And steady beat of hooves striking against the stone and ground.

What better past time can have found?

If you can come ride with me.

Lose track of time upon a horses back,

And don't worry if you feel you can't ride.

I'll teach you, and we will ride slow. Relax!

Soon you'll get the knack.
