It is unbelievable that there are still schools around the world that do not teach evolution, because it contradicts religion's beliefs about the way God created the world.
First of all, both theories can be assumed to have happened the same time. God created the world as we know it in seven days. This is a symbolic time frame, the fact that science suggests that it took a few billion years for creation does not mean that God was not the creator.
The theory of evolution, as we know it today, is probably the biggest theory developed by biologists, paleontologists, earth scientists and philosophers. It is true that it contains a lot of mistakes, but this is because it is hard to prove everything as it suggests how everything happened in steps of millions years (it's a time period hard to get). But there are so many facts supporting it that it really represents the way everything happened.
It is such a great theory that if not taught in schools, there is a great gap created in the understanding of biology. By what means would a biologist teach to his students the polymorphisms of organisms, DNA mutations or genetics, if students have no educational background regarding evolution?
History has proven us that believing in a theory strongly and fanatically, that we do not see facts, results in big developmental gaps. For example Galinos' theories were supported so fanatically that biological advance stopped for 12 centuries (200-1400). That's why we should understand that the theory that Adam was created automatically by sand, and Eva by Adam's ribs is just a symbolism of God's powers and is not the way things actually happened.
We should not let religion stop science being taught in schools. Evolution is a very important field of science.
