I am not going to look at believing in ghosts from a scientific standpoint or from a religious standpoint. This is not to say that both have a grip of some sort in the study of parapsychology, yet, we have to look at the field with a totally open mind. This goes for the study of ufology as well. Believing in ghosts, in my opinion, is one that is for an individual to decide whether or not they believe. Most of us have had some kind of experience or two; yet, some of us might brush these off as something serene and nothing more than something going “bump in the night.”
To believe in ghosts we have to probably first have had an incident. Most people do not believe in such things until having an experience. I have had two pretty good experiences and maybe more and this has gotten me very interested in the study of the paranormal. I have even decided to add this subject to my photography business where I might just get the opportunity to film a ghost or poltergeist.
My first incident was when I was six years old. My family was moving from Miami Beach, Florida to Atlanta, Georgia and on the way north, we stopped at a place which was a one bedroom apartment on the second floor of a larger complex. I cannot remember where exactly this was, but I do remember very clearly what my experience was. One night while sleeping in the main bedroom (my parents slept in the living room on a sleep sofa) with my three brothers, I was awakened by the banging of metal against metal. What I found out was that it was lids of metal trash cans being banged against the body of the can. I got the nerve to get up and go to the window to see what might have been causing such a racket. When I looked out the window, I discovered that the noise would stop and that there was no one there. This would go on for a couple of nights. Then, the best of the experience happened the night before we continued our trip north to Atlanta.
I was awakened again, this time by a bright light in the one closet in the bedroom. What I found interesting was that my brothers did not wake up at all. I think I know why. Whatever was causing the light to go on and off was summoning me and not them. So anyway, again I gathered up the courage to go toward the closet. I climbed out of bed and went to the light. I opened the door and I could as clear as day remember what I saw.
