Sailing into the Bloom
- Janie’s Story – Their Eyes Were Watching God –
I told Nanny that my eyes were watching God,
But she reckoned the bloom,
So she stitched the sail and set
The mule upon my back that eclipsed
The pear tree.
After a season, I laid down
My saddle blanket for another,
Traversing dusty trails that led
To a seat on the porch swing,
The blossom lay dormant,
Concealed
Under the sway
Of the swing.
From my porch seat,
I waited,
Fenced in on all sides,
Bound to a store front
By another’s dream.
Until death came and erased
His wilted manhood, leaving
In its stead, a chocolate cake
Blooming in the void.
My new man
Had a way of telling and showing
Things I never knew.
Moonlit fishing
Breakfast fish fry,
Had to take a gamble
On that Tea Cake, knew
He could be my honey bee.
Petal knees unfolded and wrapped
Within the golden sanctum, came
Fruit blossoms.

by Acari
Just like a flower
Love blossomed in my soul...
Like a lovely white rose
It filled the purest air
with its sensual scent.
Love
by J.B. Hickock
Our eyes met and, without a word,
Like a rose, true love grew.
by Leigh Goessl
A friendship sparked
Through shared conversation
Each talk was anticipated
With excitement and elation
Friendship began to change
Heady aroma overwhelms my senses.
You're secrets revealed one petal at a time.
Sun breaks and you open to me, still dewy
