Since the invention of the cellular phone we have seen them shrink in size, increase in mobility, and become like little personal computers that are with you on the go. It really makes you wonder with all the gadgets and things that cell phones have now what they will be able to do in the future.
Well we may be looking at having flip phones making a reappearance, this time with touch screens, and much smaller and thinner, kind of like the Razor and Katana today, than in the past. Does this sound cool? Well that’s not all that may be upgraded with our phones. There are also talks about cell phones becoming a lot more like PDA’s than they have in the past, larger address books, more applications available to them, and better internet capabilities.
Gamers may even begin to fall in love with phones more than they do now since there are plans for cell phones to enter into the gaming world. Phone companies are expected to be making it possible for phones to connect to the Gamers favorite games and allow them to always be connected to them; this would of course require a lot better internet capabilities, such as DSL. Well there are plans for broadband companies to start offering support for internet in cell phones for various reasons.
You can already take photos and watch television and movies on your phones but did you ever expect to be able to watch them or take your photos in high definition? The cameras in your cell phones are expected to be upgraded into the 8 megapixel range and higher, giving you much much better resolution photos than we have right now with our often times, low 1.5 megapixel cameras. Television upgrades will allow you to watch your satellite TV on the go with the use of a smart card that identifies your identity and hooks up with your cable or satellite company.
Well that’s not all. Another big change to phones is that they are reducing the need for area codes, you know that three digit prefix number before any phone number that you have to use or else you get the operator telling you that you have to use it. With the reduced need for them it is very likely in the near future that they will be done away with entirely. This of course means that the phone number that you have will be able to stay with you even when you move around, no matter how many times you move. This will also make your phone number much more personal and a lot more like your social security number.
Cell phones have made great progress since we were first introduced to them a few decades ago. They are still upgrading a lot every year with new features being offered. It won’t be very long before our phones are like our personal computers and perhaps even rival them in capabilities’.
