A lilac mist around me swirls and I am drifting on a sea of turquoise clouds. I see a beautiful woman approaching me with arms reaching out as though to welcome me. She motions with her hand for me to see what is in store for me. Her frothy, pink gown and her face, with glittering blue eyes and peach complexion is love.
Floating, walking toward her, my steps are as astronauts walking on the moon. The closer I get, the farther away she seems. Who is this woman? I do not know. I have never seen her before but, there must be some significance to my life for here she is.
Magnolia fragrances fill the air. Finally, I arrive on a misty green lawn. I do not believe this is the earth where I live.
We float toward each other. The people gathered here do not have faces.
"Draw faces on them," the woman tells me. "Draw faces of the ones you love." She smiles.
What am I to do? I cannot draw faces. My hand goes up to an empty space on a woman's body and starts swirling. A face appears. It is my daughter, Kelly's face. She is so beautiful. She has been mine all her life. My daughter.
We smile with delight at each other and hug each other, tightly. "This is for the times we didn't hug before," she tells me. "The times we should have hugged each other but didn't."
My hearts is full.
"You draw the next face," I tell her.
Her hand goes to where a child's face should have been. Her hand is swirling. She is finished. It is my granddaughter, Brooke. She is a replica of her mother.
I see the pure delight in Brooke's face. She is in my arms in a second. We don't want to let go.
"I thought I would never see you again," she said. "But, here you are! Oh, MawMaw, I love you." Her face is as bright as ever.
Here we three are, again. Happy times, sad times, troubles - but, here we are again.
"Brooke, please draw the next face for me," I asked her.
"Okay, MawMaw," she answers and looks at me lovingly.
Her hand swirls. In a minute, a face appears on a beautiful little boy. It is my grandson, Cade. I have not seen him in four years.
He looks at me puzzled. Brooke laughs.
"Cade, this is MawMaw! Give her a hug!" She laughs. I laugh, Kelly laughs.
We play ring around the rosey and fall down laughing.
Over the horizon, we see two children and a man and a woman coming toward us. They do not have faces, either. They float toward us. The lady tells me to finish my drawings and I will know who they are.
The drawings are finished and we have my son, Robert and his wife, Shauna with my two other grandchildren, Snoei and Nick.
Everyone is laughing and happy. We are all together. My family is together. But, wait a minute! A man is coming toward us.
Cade draws and it is Max, Kelly's husband. He smiles at me and all is okay with us.
My how happy we are and I know we would all be together some day.
The beautiful lady is floating away from me and I now know that she was my mother.
