Back then,
I was lost,
Lonely.
I wandered through life with no purpose.
No direction.
Every day was a battle,
That I had to win.
Or risk losing everything,
And ending up with nothing.
Now,
I am found,
Saved.
Each day is a new beginning,
Another adventure about to happen.
All I have to do is smile,
And say yes.
I have everything,
And nothing to lose.
Now,
I don’t recognize the girl I was
Back then.
She’s just a distant memory,
A ghost of the past.
The girl I am now is braver,
Stronger.
And each day the sun shines brighter
Than the day before.
And I,
I meet it head on.
With no fear,
No inhibitions.
The past is long behind me,
A memory lost
But not forgotten.
No, never forgotten.
But it’s a new day, and the clouds have cleared away.
