The Body Shop produces a variety of body butters, it is their most famous product and they are known worldwide for it. They have body butters for all different types of skin and also in a variety of different smells. The Shea body butter is for dry skin types.
The body butters come in either one of two sizes, 50ml for £5 or 200ml for £12.00.
The packaging is an ivory coloured tub, with a picture of Shea nuts on the front. The body butter is also ivory coloured, as is usually refined Shea which ranges from a white to an ivory colour.
Unlike other body butters which are extremely smooth, the Shea body butter is not silky smooth consistency, is slightly uneven which you can see. However, once applied onto the body it spreads extremely easily and also melts with the heat of your skin. It soaks wonderfully into your skin leaving it smooth, shiny and moisturised.
After a while of using it, you will see a difference on your skin. The body butter is very pampering and gentle to the skin. You will feel the need to reapply it even when not necessary.
Surprisingly, the smell is quite fresh but the main scent is nutty. Many people do not like the smell of Shea because it is too thick, but this smell is extremely light and airy. Also, when applied to the skin, the scent does not stay for a long time; you may smell the aroma slight though the smell disappears very quickly. Nevertheless, your skin stays moisturised, for around 6 to 7 hours.
If your skin is extremely dry you may need to apply it both in the morning and evening, however once in the evening on damp skin should lock in the moisture and as the benefits of Shea butter is to repair, protect and heal it works well with the body in aiding to do just that while you are sleeping.
The price for the body butter is quite expensive, mainly because it finishes extremely quickly, especially because it is in the format of a tub which one tends to scoop a lot out of. However The Body Shop hosts many excellent sales throughout the year where you can get a lot of the different body butters on sale.
3.5/5 – The price for many is an issue when purchasing, and having to wait for the sales can be tedious. Furthermore, it finishes extremely quickly which is a downfall. In addition, one expects a body butter to moisturise a full day at least because they are rich and creamy in consistency, however this only moisturises for around 6 hours, it is better purchasing a thick body lotion which will last longer than that amount.
