Even if your blog is only a few months old, chances are that you have old posts that are buried in your blog.  Many bloggers post regular updates three to five times a week.  If you assume that there are fifty-two weeks in a year, that means that even at the lowest end, you likely have more than one hundred and fifty blog posts sitting in your blog if it is a year old..

It is likely that new visitors to your site will likely read only the front page posts and perhaps select one category that particularly interests them and perhaps read those posts as well. The ability to drive new traffic to old blog posts can help increase your income and help ensure that older posts are not just sitting there and doing nothing.  Here is how to drive traffic to old blog posts.

* Social bookmarking - Promote your older blog posts through social bookmarking sites to drive traffic to them. Sites like RedGage can help bring new viewers to your blog and possibly draw attention to your older blog posts;

* Cross linking - If you are maintaining a common thread across your blog posts, review some of your older blog posts and link them to your current blog posts. Not only will this help add to your credibility, it is an effective means of driving traffic to old blog posts;

* Social networking - Review your older blog posts and send the best ones out to your network of Twitter followers. This will drive new traffic to old blog posts.  This can help bring in new readers and can also remind current readers that you have older posts that are worth reading;

* Create new opportunities - Websites like Wikinut allow you to write articles that can inlcude links to blog posts. This site provides a great opportunity to frame a group of similar blog posts into one convenient post. In addition to driving new traffic, Wikinut can also help you earn additional revenue;

* Yahoo! Answers - Take a look through the questions that are posted at Yahoo! Answers.  If you can answer questions you may include a blog link that provides a source or additional information..

Summary

As your blog grows, more posts will get filtered to the bottom and as each day passes, old blog posts seldom get any attention. You can drive traffic to old blog posts in a variety of ways, these are just a few of the options that are available to you.
