Throughout the Southeast United States there are several major historic sites that you could consider going and taking your family with you to see for a day, or perhaps take a several day road trip to see several different locations. Many of these sites are within a few hours drive of one another and its quite possible that you could make a huge circle through the region, though that might only work if you live in the Southeast, so it would be important to pick an area where you could get to several of the others within a reasonable amount of time.
