Should Schools Give Cash For Good Grades?
Yes! Schools should definitely give out cash rewards to high performing students! Many students are "slackers". They never do their homework and get terrible grades. If schools were to offer money for achieving up to certain standards, students would jump at the opportunity. At my high school, a local college came in to tell us that they were conducting surveys about what high school life was like. Many students groaned and moaned, not wanting to listen or take a survey if they got nothing in return. The speaker then said that if you participated, you would earn ten dollars for every survey you completed. Now at this revelation, students started to smile and become more peppy. The speaker emphasized that if you turned in your permission sheet saying that you wanted to participate, you would get ten dollars automatically. This just goes to show that students love money! Money could get them to do almost anything! Ask any high school student.
If they were to choose between not working at all and failing a class or working so hard they can't feel their brains, passing the class, and making money at the same time, everyone you ask would definitely choose the latter. Just the satisfaction of passing a class is not enough praise. If money was offered, more students would try a whole lot harder than they already do. If schools offered to pay the high standard setting students, grades in schools would improve drastically.
I believe that if money was offered for good grades, people would be so ecstatic about the idea, that they would work so hard to achieve the goal just to make a little cash. The green means everything to students in high school. We go through many things and have many various expenses. I say that if you are making excellent grades and have different expenses that need to be payed, why not make some money doing something that is good for you and your health? The idea of paying for awesome grades is different than paying someone for working. When earning money for good grades, you are earning money for something that is benefiting you. When you have a job and work manually for the cash, you are not really improving your brain's power and potential. Money could be given out for many, many much worse reasons than school work. When paying someone for doing their best in school and fulfilling their true potential, you are encouraging them to go far. Schools should definitely and absolutely implement a plan for rewarding highly educated students with the green ca-ching ca-ching.
