There are a lot of books floating around at the moment that promise to change your life, if only you could tap into the power of your mind to create your own destiny. The problem is, many people will read these sorts of books but few will have life changing affects.
For the most of us we’ll feel good reading them and maybe for a little while after, but eventually we’ll continue our search for the holy grail of happiness and fulfilment.
That is why you must do more than just read.
First you must determine your goals. If you don’t know what you want nothing will ever change.
Write down your long term goals with as much detail as possible. Now pin it to the wall for every one to see especially YOU every day. Now let’s start another list. This will be your short term goals. 6 -12 months time frame approximately in order of what you want to achieve first.
Make this list realistic and the first 2 – 3 goals easily achievable. As these goals are realised your confidence in the process will be greatly strengthened. Pin this up on the wall along side your long term goals.
Here’s the trick. Turn your goals into affirmations. Here’s an example.
Goal: I want to make lots of money writing short stories. The affirmation would go something like this. I will be paid well for writing short stories now.
Your affirmations should be clear, positive and refer to the “now”.
1. Work on one affirmation at a time
2. Again keep your first few affirmations believable and achievable.
3. Write out your affirmation at least five times in a row every day.
4. Visualise the out come just before falling asleep.
Copying your affirmation out five times is a powerful tool. I was recently explaining this to a close friend who was studying for her Masters In Psychology. Her password on her laptop was pass77 which she typed in every day over a ten week period. She was hoping to just scrape by with a pass. She not only got a pass, but a distinction with 77%.
Coincidence? Maybe. But there’s many more stories like that one around.
Why this process won’t work for you
1. Your not consistent
2. Your not Persistent
3. You forget
4. You give up because you don’t get instant results
Turn your life around. Become consistent, persistent and achieve your goals. Have you made your short and long term goals list yet?
Here’s the key to make this work. Get an A4 piece of cardboard and write your affirmation on it. Put this on your pillow. When you go to bed at night write out your affirmations five times and just before you fall sleep and visualise the outcome of your goal. When you wake up put the affirmation card back on your pillow.
This is kind of a magical process. You are reprogramming yourself on a subconscious level and things just start happening.
Give it time. It may take a couple of weeks or even a couple of months. This is very important: keep reading positive, self-improvement books and keep these ideas in the forefront of your mind.
Believe it, practice it and it will happen.
