THE BEACH
The beach at Portreath is such a wondrous resort
With children splashing in the shimmering sea
And adults partaking in that most famous sport
Of surfing in this place where your spirit runs free.
Sandcastles are built before the oncoming tide
With the precision of an experienced engineer
As kites through the Summer sun doth glide
Like clockwork it happens at this time of year.
People visit the little cafe at the top of the beach
Desperate to quench the holiday hunger and thirst
Whilst swooping seagulls doth readily screech
Following a script they have repeatedly rehearsed.
The lifeguards look on surveying the Atlantic waves
Orchestrating the performance of a sea of pleasure
With a rolling backdrop of hills and mysterious caves
Memories of this perfect place will be cherished forever.
