Understanding equality issues in a free world

The idea of "rights" applies to us all...we all have rights, in a free world, to do whatever we like.

However, when doing what we like impinges of the rights of someone else to do what they want (ie live peacefully, quietly etc), then our rights end there.

For example, and a rather trivial example at that...it is our right to do what we wish in the privacy of our won home...or so a free world should be...but when we make so much noise for example that the neighbours complain of no sleep, we are impinging on their right to sleep at night.

If we are all equal, which is based on a rather eutopian ideal, but one which is strived for by many, then our mutual cooperation would mean that we all had equal rights and all cooperated equally.

It is obvious that this is not actual today, we have the right to vote, and that vote determines a variety of rights or lack of rights within that government.
