A Christian can and, in fact, should support Roe vs. Wade. The decision in Roe vs. Wade is not actually about abortion, it is about God's gift to each individual human being, the "Authority to Execute Judgment".
A Christian should offer guidance to others, not pass judgment on others to abuse, persecute, criminalize or in any way deny them that which God has given unto them; especially the Authority to Execute Judgment.
The rights and wrongs of abortion will always produce heated debate. Nonetheless, the Roe vs. Wade considers abortion but is not about abortion. It is about an individual's right to choose. The essence of one's "Authority to Execute Judgment" which is commonly called "Free Will".
One who is righteous is one who uses the God-given "Authority to Execute Judgment" in line with the Will of God as opposed to using it for one‘s own selfish purpose. If, however, one denies the God given Free Will of another, this is not "righteousness" it is selfishness. Moreover, after all, selfishness is the root of all Biblical "sin" and "evil".
One thing that seems forgotten is the reason the Roe vs. Wade decision stood behind "choice". So many "back-alley, coat-hanger type" abortions were being performed at the expense no only of the fetus but of the would-be mother.
Personally, a friend of mine named Roberta was impregnated as a child of 13 years, by her father long before Roe vs. Wade came to be. Her father did solve the problem of pregnancy with a wire coat hanger. From the age of 13, my friend lost the ability to bear children.
Some might say that the father this and the father that, for he did a terrible deed and topped it with another terrible deed. This, however, does not change the fact that if Roe vs. Wade had been in effect, Roberta may have stood a chance at motherhood in her time.
Such things, be it a boyfriend cajoling or forcing himself upon a girl, a relative, a stranger, etc. Were not, and are not, as unusual as some might care to believe.
Does this make abortion okay? In my opinion, no, abortion should not be. All the same, it is one thing for me to offer help and guidance, another to pass judgment upon someone else for executing his or her God given
