Poetry: Sometimes

by E Kuzmenko

Created on: March 20, 2010

Sometimes the coldness lingers too long
The heat doesn't come too fast
People walk away too soon
Tears fall down too late.

Sometimes my mind drifts away
It becomes a part of something I cannot explain
As if a needle and a thread come together
and work the fabric through the cut.

As if, sometimes I am not alone
yet I stand with others,
I cannot see them as I sometimes hear
their cries and pleas.

Sometimes I am swimming,
diving into the bright, blue open ocean
Arms wide, wide open and I tip
Slowly, quietly sail through the air
I plunge into the water and inhale
the sweetness I breathe for.

Sometimes water engulfs my head
and I cannot see past the blurry motion
I set back and watch them dissipate with their
cold faces turned away.

Pain will sometimes crash into my veins
like whiteness of the snow I inhale
And feel life burst through my nose
taste, the crispness of images.

That sometimes become broken,
and shattered.
Sometimes.
