IN THE SHADOW OF A SPARROW
The winter brought death
White mixing with sorrow
Blended by the salt of tears.
The wind echoes with the cry of a Banshee
a cry of which I've never heard.
The fables of her myths are true
like a promise given by God.
I long for the summers sun
the comfort of a morning warm and bright.
I must journey for such comforts.
Into the rain I run
from the thunder of a mean sky
to the place of deserts and oceans
warm like summers rain.
I will carve a palace here
and whittle a dream from gopher wood
floating on the waves of love again.
I will sing songs of old and new
and feast on poems of homesick lovers.
Here is where I am
Here is where I'll be
Full of peace and breathless effort
Drifting to sleep in the wings of my Latin sparrow.

Loneliness
Loneliness is a bitter word
Just like feelings are hard to convey
Its a little ironic then
That you left me when
Its time to start over.
Time to move forward, no more standing still.
I leave you and the memory of you behind.
It hurts
