It can't be another Tiger Woods sexting incident, can it? Well of course it can, it's the story that won't quit! George Michael, the one time rock star and a person that has been in the crosshairs of a scandal on a few occasions during his career, has a song entitled "Freedom" which contains a poignant lyric that Tiger Woods must be thinking is so appropriate right about now. It goes "they notice fast..and some mistakes were built to last". Well the albatross that has become Tiger's many mistresses took another turn recently with the release of a letter than contained months worth of racy text messages from the golfing great. She even went as far as to be sure to give the letter a title (we should all be so thankful): "Its time to tell the truth about Tiger".
This must have been another brutal slap in the face for the golfing greats wife Elin Nordegren, who has had to endure months now of hearing woman after woman coming forward and saying I had sex with your husband, or I am his real mistress blah blah. Woods just detailed recently months of therapy that he has gone through for his admitted sexual problems, and it appears that his wife was willing to give him another chance, going as far as to attend counseling with him in the past month. It would certainly a lot to have to endure and no one would have blamed her for walking out and taking him for all he was worth.
On the other hand, here we have Woods who just in the past week released a statement letting the world know that after undergoing extensive therapy for his addiction, that he felt the time was right for him to return to the competitive golf scene, which he announced would be taking place at next month's Masters in Augusta, Ga. He certainly had to count himself lucky that his wife was giving him the opportunity to makes amends, as well as the fact that he could get back out on tour. The whole sordid affair(s) has taken a devastating toll on his reputation and earnings power. Whereas he used to make untold millions on commercials and products he endorsed, he now is at a point where most of his major sponsors, sans Nike, have beaten the dusty trail and left him to make his money doing golf only. Still his personal life seemed to be on a bit of a rebound until the release of the messages below. Not to get too graphic, but the facts that seem to leap off the page are these:
Tiger was very secretive (not enough I guess!). Many texts referenced when he was in his room, how to arrive, and what or who to look out for.
Tiger was into some pretty interesting things. Among the topics he hit upon were his wanting of a threesome, many references to slapping, spanking, biting and the like.
You did not want to make Tiger angry. Towards the end of the text messages released, he referenced a time where she must have showed up somewhere and was almost discovered. Tiger sent angry texts referencing how James could have ruined everything as well as how she could have ruined his entire life if she had been seen.
He also referenced problems at home and constantly talked about how much he wanted the one time porn star.
As you can see, the content of these messages paint a not so angelic picture of the champ. It takes us into a side of the man that I am not sure most golf fans really wanted to know. It also makes you wonder what effect this will take on his already shaky marriage. Obviously his wife knows at this point that he has done things like this texting and such, but the level of detail released in these messages make you wonder if she realized the extent of the things he had done. From this release alone we are painted a picture of a secretive man who showed interest in everything from threesomes to rough play in the bedroom. It also showed a side of the man that indicated he was deathly afraid of being caught and who became greatly upset when the possibly arose.
Let's call this what it is though. Tiger has been put through the ringer, and rightly so, for months now regarding his actions. He has made an effort to try to get help for his problems in the hopes of trying to salvage both his married life and his reputation. He came out publicly and apologized, then announced his return. Tiger was reappearing in the limelight and trying to put this all behind him. Miss James picks this opportunity to release the texts. Why? That should be painfully obvious. She certainly was enjoying the notoriety, web hits, and other benefits that she had derived from being one of Tiger's gals. Now that he was stepping forward and trying to be back in charge, she saw this as an opportunity to cash in one more time at his expense. Do you think it was an accident that she deleted the texts that she had sent during these alleged conversations? Absolutely not. This was a calculated ploy to try and make him look back again, and bring her back into the public eye. If it wasn't, then what was the point of doing it? He acknowledged the affairs, so she was not trying to make him admit guilt.
Perhaps it’s about a few more appearance fees and a chance for to do a couple more interviews. Perhaps it’s wanting to hold on to her newfound star status and perhaps secure a spot on the next rendition of Celebrity Apprentice. Whatever the case maybe, there was certainly no good motive behind it. This is not the case of the jilted mistress who thought he was going to leave his wife for her. This was just another desperate attempt to stand up and say "Hey world, see me". It is a sad and sordid tale, but unfortunately one that was brought on by the man himself. Now though he is forced to deal with the consequences of his actions. Like it was said earlier, some mistakes are built to last. Hopefully the shelf life on this one is not too much longer.
