Looking to take an airboat ride on your next Florida vacation? Airboat rides are a thrilling way to experience Florida swamps and bogs. But not all airboat companies are created equal. Boggy Creek Airboat Rides may just be the best Florida has to offer. Boggy Creek Airboat Rides is located in Central Florida just minutes from the downtown Orlando attractions. The company was started in 1994 with just one airboat. However; due to the company’s impeccable safety record, respect for the environment and sheer knowledge of the Central Florida Everglades, it has grown by leaps and bounds during the last 15 years. Boggy Creek Airboat Rides has become the premier airboat ride company in all of Florida, welcoming tourists from all over the world.
I first became acquainted with Boggy Creek airboats on a visit to Florida in 2004. I had never seen an airboat before much less ridden on one. I wasn’t really expecting much since I had practically grown up on a boat. I didn’t see how an airboat travelling 45 miles per hour through the Everglades would be much different than a recreational boat travelling 45 miles per hour in the Atlantic Ocean. I couldn’t have been more wrong. My first airboat experience was one that I would soon not forget.
Boggy Creek is very safety conscious and all their captains are Master Captains and fully licensed and bonded. They are also randomly drug tested, first aid and CPR certified and have attended the US Coast Guard sea school. The first thing that they do at Boggy Creek is go over what to expect, the rules and regulations of their boats. Riders must wear life vests and Boggy Creek requires everyone to wear ear protection. I put my ear protection on and away we went. I couldn’t help but giggle as I felt like I was flying through the Everglades.
Our guide stopped our boat and pointed out different types of wildlife like endangered sandhill cranes and bald eagles. Not only did he stop and point them out but he really took the time to educate us about Florida’s wildlife. The staff at Boggy Creek respects the fragile Florida ecosystem and wants visitors to understand and have compassion for the ecosystem as well. Airboat captains are generous with their time. Tours aren’t rushed and captains welcome questions.
