Basketball: How to jump higher

Have you ever dreamed of jumping as high as star basketball players like Kobe Bryant or Michael Jordan. Jumping higher is a great skill to have in the game of basketball. If you don't have the height like Yao Ming then jumping high is all that you can do to dunk the basketball. Dunking the basketball is a great sensation and something a lot of players dream of doing. You still score the two points like a regular shot but the crowd just goes ballistic when you dunk.

So we want to jump higher, right? Easy thing to do is to follow my simple training technique which I have used myself. I have a vertical leap of close to 1 meter and it is considered higher than average. All I did to get to this jumping height was to train my muscles to jump. Training your muscles to jump involves you jumping everyday. The simplest thing that I just do is skipping.

If you skip with a rope for 20 minutes a day. Just split up the 20 minutes into 4 sets of 5 minutes. Really simple right. Most of the things in life is very simple. The key to this training is to jump as high as you can each time. Jumping for 5 minutes is no easy feat but it does get easier the more you do it.

You need to train your muscles so that they are used to jumping. Jumping puts a lot of strain on your knees and ankles when you land and takeoff. If you follow my training you should be a jumping machine.

If you want to know the science behind this, I can tell you a little bit of what I know. Muscles are come in two types. Fast twitch and slow twitch. The more you do explosive exercises, the more fast twitch muscles you will develop. If you train for endurance like marathons then you will mainly have slow twitch muscles. Fast twitch muscles give you the explosiveness you need to jump higher.

The number of people that like to do all these fancy exercise routines and wear weights is just enormous. There is no need for any of this fancy stuff in my easy exercise routine. All you need to do is buy yourself a skipping rope and skip for those 20 minutes a day. You should start to see results after a few days. After a few weeks you should be able to jump a lot higher than your friends. Give it a try and let me know how it goes.
