Being single isn't as bad as it seems. Relationships are complex, and being single is...not. Here are a few of my favorite things about the single life:

1. I can do whatever I want all the time. This is obvious, but insanely true; you people in a relationship, did you know that your friends make fun of you for being whipped? No matter how un-whipped you may consider yourself? This isn't something that us single people have to deal with.

2. Alone time. When you're in a relationship, the other person is there constantly. It gets really old trying to get a moment to yourself and finding out that you're not afforded that privilege.

3. You never have to "talk about us." That's by far one of the most uncomfortable experiences in human life. At least when you're single, there's no "us" to talk about.

4. You don't have to feel bad about checking other guys/girls out. You're single! It's what you're supposed to do.

5. You save money on gifts and dinners. Guys, this is a big one; each month, you save at least a rent check that would've gone out the door.

The single life isn't something you want to live forever, but it's definitely got its perks. Just remember not to make fun of your friends for being in relationships; you'll be there eventually, and there'll be hell to pay.
