Starting over in a new city

If  you should  find yourself starting over in a new city you will need to do your homework  to make the transition as smooth as possible.

If you are starting over due to a Divorce or a death you are in a very vulnerable place and should proceed with caution, and also allow yourself  time to adjust and try not to take on too heavy of a schedule until you are adjusted mentally to the change.

If you are moving to a new city for a job you will want to  contact a Real Estate agent or Apartment Finding company first.

These people  have a wealth of knowledge about the city and getting around in it.

You may even be able to get the name of a  plumber, handy man or even a hairdresser.

You will want to make sure that you are in close proximity  to your job making travel time less.

When you find the perfect house or apartment use the Internet and research the crime rate in the area.

Your city government website is usually equipped with those statistics and information.

Also keep in mind your activities outside of work that are important to you.

The  availability of grocery stores, dry cleaners, Libraries, Gym's, Churches.

If you are an avid bicycle rider you would not want to move into an area without sidewalks or parks.

Starting over in a new city represents a new opportunity to reinvent yourself at times.

Perhaps the city or town you lived in before  did not support your lifestyle or civic goals.

A new city can also provide a new set of people to network with and build your business or begin a whole new business that you might

not of had an opportunity to get into in the place you lived before.

Take your time and do not make decisions hastily about your living environment  or job.

Most importantly do not give into loneliness and make poor choices about new friends.

There are many resources for information about the new city you are moving to.

Most cities have a viable Chamber of Commerce which can provide useful information about the city and all the services provided.

So in overview rely on the Internet to research the neighborhoods, churches, parks, crime rates, civic organizations and know your new

city before you arrive and the move will be much more  enjoyable.

Keep in min that you are moving to a new city to start over so try to leave behind your bad memories and maybe even bad habits and

make a fresh new start!
