The best way to get free hits to your website is by promoting it through videos.  Internet users like to watch more than they like to read.  I believe that writing articles or any other marketing method is not as powerful as videos.  When one writes an article, he or she submits it to articles directories like Ezinearticles and hopes to get a lot of traffic from it.  Let us compare the ranking of articles directories and video sharing websites.

According to Alexa, Ezinearticles for example is ranked 131.  On the other hand, YouTube is ranked 3.  This is the cast-iron evidence that video sharing websites receive more traffic than article directories.  Then why people think that writing articles is the best way to get free hits to your website when article directories do not get a lot of traffic?

This technique makes YouTube a lot more powerful than article directories.  When you want to submit your article and get fast results, you can “piggyback” on other people success.  For example, if your video is about “web traffic”, you need to look for related videos before you submit yours.  Look for videos about web traffic that have had a lot of views.  Then look at the title, the description and the tags by clicking on “more info” that appears on the right.  After that, choose nearly the same tags and slightly the same title.  This way, your video will appear on the right of the most viewed videos you have chosen as a related video.

If you are familiar with YouTube, you would know that whenever you watch a video, you find “related videos” next to it.  Imagine your video appearing right next another one that has had thousands of views.  When the other video finishes, the first thing the viewer would do is checking the list of related videos.  If you use this technique, your video will appear there.   This way, you take advantage of the popularity of other videos. The “piggyback technique” is really very powerful and it gives you immediate results.
